Mineral feeders take some heavy use and sometimes a replacement flap is needed. This replacement flap kit is specifically designed to be utilized on the Sioux Steel Ground Mineral Feeders. Kit includes black top and necessary hardware needed to be bolted onto orange base.

PRO TIP: When replacing flap, take a socket with a long extension to hold the bolt in place. This will allow you to be able to tighten the top nut down before installing the flap and upper nut. Please see manual 198893 for further details.

Should have bought new instead of repairing

Product itself was good. Shipping ended up being nearly as much as product nullifying any savings to fix rather than buying new. Ease of repair was not nearly as simple as indicated- I myself had to grind off the old bolts to replace - did get repaired so I guess all is well that ends well

Mineral Feeder cover

This also covers the older, blue feeders. Very nice complete replacement including all parts. Wish there was a cheaper shipping option, though.

  • I cannot get bolt off in to replace top. I’ve used heavy duty wrenches and extended wrenches. Any suggestions would be appreciated

    Thank you for reaching out! To remove the flap, you would need to take a Ratchet and 15/16” Socket with an extension (at least 12”). You will use that to get at the bolt (Item 1.3) from the inside of the feeder. From the top you will use a 15/16” wrench on the nut (item 1.2). Keep in mind you would need to remove the top nut (item 1.4.3) to remove the flaps and other parts.

    In most cases the bolt does not need to be removed to replace the flap. You would need to just have to remove the 5/8” bolt from the top and replace the flap and necessary components.

  • I ordered two replacement flaps from my local farm store (MFA). Received them today but only received the flap and not the hardware. Is it possible to order the rest of the hardware directly from you? Thanks

This will get you everything you need to mount on the flange bolt that runs thru the middle of the mineral feeder base.   • I have an older ground feeder with a pin to hold cover on, not threaded. Does the replacement kit also have the new pin for the cover?
